Ummmmm… Honestly what brought it on was delightful pomegranate martinis.
BUT, the real answer you want… It’s another quote from “The Patriot”. The French general was getting ready to go into a nasty battle where he’s likely lose his life. But, being French, he had to look his very best before he could do so and therefore was putting on all of his finest military garb first. When Mel Gibson (the patriot) looked at him with a cross eye, he uttered “If I die, I will die well dressed.” It’s another line from the movie that I had forgotten.
It conjured up a lot of thoughts in my head. I’ve been in a bit of a dark place recently after learning of a couple of deaths… They weren’t people I was really close to but their deaths were simply so unexpected. And then I thought of Ma-Ma (who, ultimately, WAS French) and laughed my ass off. She always looked good or at least tried very hard to. She had more clothes than Belks and put on her makeup before facing the world almost until the end. Her hair was “done” once a week to maintain perfection. And shoes.. Lord the woman had shoes. So, if I die, I want to be well dressed.
