Samantha still hasn’t shown up. We’ve now spent countless hours searching for her. I have a strange inner gut feeling that she is close-by… maybe not still alive… but much closer than we think. I am sad to say that I have given up most of my hope for finding her alive or having her just wander home. Needless to say, we’re devastated.
My writing deadline is complete. Copy was e-mailed and I am happy with the final results. I e-mailed the articles from a nifty little free wi-fi spot at Beaner’s coffee in Mount Pleasant yesterday afternoon while Tony was having therapy. This afternoon I head North again to my parent’s house in Myrtle Beach. Then tomorrow morning we leave for DC!
The spelling bee semi-finals will be on ESPN on Thursday morning. The finals will be on ABC Thursday night at 8pm. I hope to see Morgan reach both levels, but honestly, I’m not sure she has studied enough for that. She has so much going on in her life and spelling bees are just one part of it. The kids I have seen as finalists eat, sleep, and breathe spelling. Morgan is brilliant but gets to the level she is at mainly through sheer brain power and not from studying. So, we’ll see what happens. I’m not sure that I would want her to be a speller robot anyway.

Freakin’ Ugh.
Samantha, Anton’s most favored cat, took off last night. Mind you, she’s an inside cat. But, she obviously ended up outside. I’ve searched the whole neighborhood since 3am. I have posted 50 flyers on mailboxes and telephone poles. I’ve called the Humane Society and written to the local papers. Still, the bitch hasn’t shown up. Don’t get me wrong- I am DEEPLY upset because I love the little fur monster too. She’s microchipped and I really think she’ll come home… hopefully.
Unfortunately, the stress of the missing feline is making it impossible for me to write the articles that I am on deadline for with the Arts Council. My deadline is FRIDAY! I have done VERY little… I am thinking that maybe I’ll be able to write something decent after a nice glass of wine tonight when the boy child is asleep. They are dedicating two full pages to my stories. And, as usual, I procrastinate. Luckily, I can sort of churn these things out when I am “in the groove”. Now I just need to find the groove. Thankfully I had great English and Journalism teachers that taught me how to write throughout my many years of schooling. Still, I am hoping I come up with something they’ll like.
Morgan and I leave on Sunday for the National Spelling Bee. Mazzie (my mother-in-law) is also coming along. I’m excited, yet stressed. I know Anton will have a tough week dealing with Tony all alone. And, I am worried that my ITP will flair-up. But, I do see my hemotologist this week before we leave. So, I think I’ll be OK on that front. Flying always slightly stresses me… especially since I know all of the environmental damage it causes. And, I worry about losing my luggage. Yep, as my mom used to say, I’m a “worry-wart”.
Top it all off with a dirty house (not filthy… but dirty), a previous house that we still haven’t finished cleaning out to get on the market, trying to hire a new helper for Tony (although we do have one VERY exciting prospect) and I am S-T-R-E-S-S-E-D!

So by now we all know that we should be carrying our own reusable bags to the grocery store. And, anywhere that we do HAVE to get a bag we should ask for paper or recycle the plastic ones we take…
But, what about our trash bags?
Here is a compostable alternative that I just found out about today. They are also petroleum free.
I am going to order one box and report back…

This article cracks me up in a sick sort of way… Just where the hell have these lawmakers been? Just goes to show how truly out of touch the people that make our laws are.
Of course, many of us have seen “foodstamps” taken advantage of. And many of us live on about the same dollar amount each day of food without the benefit of government assistance. But, it’s always nice for people to see how the “other-half” lives without? Yes?
